The stage has been set for Nigerian singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, who is scheduled to perform tonight at Belgravia Sports Club, Harare.
The Grammy award winner is expected to share the stage with local musician Jah Prayzah, with South African-based Zimbabwean model and television presenter Kimberly Robinson (Kim Jayde) being the host.
Johannesburg disc jockey, Arnold Mdluli, better known as Kyotic is the supporting act.
Organisers of the show said he was coming with his full band.
Alick Macheso, Zimpraise, Suluman Chimbetu for OK Grand Challenge concert
The fun will continue tomorrow at the OK Grand Challenge concert at the Borrowdale Park Racecourse in Harare, which is ready to roll, with performers already doing the sound check.
According to the line-up, sungura musician Macheso will share the stage with Jah Prayzah, who would have performed the previous night at the Burna Boy show, Zimpraise Choir, Tammy Moyo, Freeman, Nutty O and Chimbetu.
The concert will start soon after the main race and draw.
Attendees are expected to adhere to Covid-19 regulations and restrictions.
Sulu at Bar Rouge
Chimbetu returns to his usual place at Bar Rouge, Longchen Plaza in Belvedere, Harare. His management said that they were excited to stage the welcome back show.
“As usual, we promise both our new and old fans an energised and memorable show as we deliver songs according to their requests,” said the management.
Diana Ross
Internationally, Diana Ross is expected to perform as part of the BBC’s Platinum Party At The Palace concert.
The Motown legend and former Supremes star will make her grand return to the UK at Buckingham Palace on tomorrow, as part of the four-day bank holiday celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s 70-year reign on the British throne, according to The Times newspaper.
The “I’m Coming Out” hitmaker hasn’t performed on British soil since 2007.
Diana, 78, was due to hit the road for her “Thank U Tour” in 2020, but it was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
As well as the Palace gig, the “Upside Down” hitmaker is set to play the Sunday afternoon teatime legends slot at Glastonbury this June, among other festival dates.
George Ezra was previously confirmed for the royal concert, while Queen guitarist Brian May has suggested he will also be part of the extravaganza.
“Shotgun” hitmaker George, 28, said: “I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert, what an incredible honour to be asked.”
The BBC — which will broadcast the show — is expected to announce the full bill in the coming days.
Viewers at home and the 10 000 concert-goers attending in person can expect three stages and epic 3D projections beamed across the Palace. Half of the tickets will be given to members of the public from a ballot.
