GOSPEL musician Amos Mahendere was a hit with the elderly guests at a birthday party in Mabvuku on Sunday.
The birthday party was for House of Life Ministries leader, Minister Preston Maporisa, who turned 48,
The celebrations attracted a number of church leaders who included Pastor Rukweza of Chitungwiza, Guvamombe of Mutare, Prophet Israel, Prophet Malvin, Pastor Chimedza, Pastor Murevanhema and Rev Hwami of the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe.
Some of the artists who performed at the celebrations were Mathias Mhere, Agatha Murudzwa, Dorcas Moyo, Dhadza D, Ana Megic and Pumacol.
Father Mahendere was forced to extend his slot because he was quite popular with the elderly folks who came in numbers to the party at the invitation of the host
They requested Father Mahendere to sing ‘Hupenyu Hwepanyika’, and many of them showcased their dancing skills.
“Ndidzo dzedu idzodzo, nhasi tauya kuzofara nemufundisi wedu.
“Idzo dzechimanjemanje hatizodzikwanisa panoti kusvetukasvetuka apo,” said one of the elderly women.
Father Mahendere, who was involved in an accident recently, proved that he still has energy whenever he gets on stage.
