YET another self-styled prophet is on the run after allegedly raping his house maid, aged 20.
Rashward Zvomuya of Mushandike Road in New Mabvuku was alleged to have sneaked into the blankets of his maid while his wife was out of the country. Zvomuya is alleged to have followed the maid into her bedroom at around 9pm, switched off the light and started caressing her.
When the maid tried to resist, Zvomuya threatened to harm her spiritually, since he claims to be a prophet.
He raped her once without protection and returned to his bedroom.
The following morning the maid advised her mother about the ordeal and Zvomuya disappeared after a police report was made.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case, appealing for information that may lead to Zvomuya’s arrest.
“Police are investigating a rape case involving a self-proclaimed prophet in New Mabvuku.
“Complainant was escorted to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in the company of her mother for medical examination and treatment,” said Insp Chakanza.
