Antipas wants Gamecocks to break duck

CHICKEN Inn head coach Joey Antipas, has expressed his desire to see his team break their 2025 season curse, which has seen them go four games without registering a win.

Smarting from a 1-0 away defeat at the hands of ZPC Kariba, Chicken Inn—who are yet to collect maximum points this season—will host the unpredictable Herentals College tomorrow, at Luveve Stadium.

This will be the two clubs’ eleventh meeting since 2019, and past encounters have seen both sides heavily challenging each other.

“We are hoping that things will soon turn around. Everything will be fine, and we just need to keep working hard as a team. We haven’t been converting the chances that have come our way,” said Antipas.

He admitted that Herentals College has always been a tough opponent.

“Herentals have been a tricky side. They are not a walkover, and we are expecting a challenging match. We need to come up with a solid game plan after working hard in training. We have to change our attitude and keep believing in ourselves.

“In football, you win some, draw some and lose some, but I think it’s now time we break our bad spell,” said the former Warriors and Motor Action mentor.

In their four league games so far, the Gamecocks have drawn against Bikita Minerals (0-0), Yadah Stars (0-0) and FC Platinum (1-1) before losing to ZPC Kariba last weekend.

On the other hand, the Students sit 10th on the log after winning once, drawing twice and losing once.

They have five points, two ahead of 16th-placed Chicken Inn.

“It’s a small dominance that the club (Herentals) has enjoyed over Chicken Inn.

“We will need to be wary of our opponents. We can’t afford to underestimate them,” said Herentals College head coach, Paul Benza.
