The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal by the Gospel of God Church International, concluding a lengthy legal battle over the exhumation of the remains of Johanne Masowe Shoniwa Masedza, the church’s founder.

The dispute was initiated by Masedza’s sons, Magaga and Reuben, who sought to relocate their father’s remains from a sacred shrine in Rusape, where he was buried in 1973, to a more accessible site.

Since his death, Johanne Masowe’s burial site has become a revered shrine for the church, but the proposed exhumation ignited a fierce legal controversy.
