IN a move aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of rural communities in Manicaland Province, the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA) is set to assist small-holder farmers with value addition and beneficiation of their agricultural produce.
ARDA chief executive officer Mr Tatenda Mhiko said the initiative is geared to increase the targeted areas’ food self-sufficiency by promoting resilience, sustainable agriculture and diversification of agricultural produce.
This in turn will increase the small-holder farmers’ productivity capacity to contribute towards national economic growth.
Mr Mhiko said the authority is also working on establishing transformative linkages for sustainable marketing of commodities produced on its estates and boost production at rural irrigation schemes.
