TWO artisanal miners have appeared in court on allegations of terrorising residents using machetes.
Tendai Karoterote (25) and Juliana Machokoto (32) were arraigned before Chinhoyi magistrate, Batsirai Madzingira, charged with assault.
Prosecuting, Clever Nyapfani, told the court that on June 2 at Machamire Bar in Chinhoyi, Karoterote and Machokoto, along with two other accomplices who are at large, were armed with machetes.
They pummelled the complaint all over the body while one of them was holding a machete threatening to attack the victim. In the process, the court heard, they searched him and took away $60, which was in his pocket. The court heard police raided their base and managed to recover nine cellphones and two machetes. The State opposed bail.
Magistrate Madzingira remanded them in custody to tomorrow for bail ruling.
