The author of Green Economy Magazine, which was showcased at COP27 in Egypt, said the acceptance of his magazine has given him the zeal to write more about climate issues. He believes writers need to shift focus on climate change issues.
Chipato told H-Metro that The Green Economy Magazine was inspired by the potential application of environmental biotechnology in Zimbabwe and also to put the country on the map.
“I wrote it to stimulate concerted efforts towards socio-economic development and recovery from Covid-19 pandemic. The magazine aims to aid the development of African societies by building infrastructure such as schools, computer halls, vaccination centres and order community amenities to support African governments by providing quality societal people-to-people projects.
“I also support the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030, SADC goals and African Union Agenda 2063.
“The magazine seeks to raise awareness in reducing social and economic challenges that result in an unprecedented deterioration of healthcare infrastructure and a drastic decline in the quality of health services,” he said
Chipato said he was grateful for the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, which partnered with African Renaissance Sustainable Development (ARSD), in relaunching the Green Economy Magazine.
He believes The Green Magazine is a game-changer which showcases the country’s climate change resilience pattern and defines strategic interventions in mitigating effects of climate change in Zimbabwe.
