adminBanda was reported to have dumped his manager, Omega Sibanda, after being coerced by the Moneybags to sign an affidavit to that effect as a condition for the club to sign him after an initial deal fell through.
FC Platinum secretary general Phillimon Muwengwa, while denying that his club dangled that carrot at Banda, said his club will sign all the players they need tomorrow morning.
“At the moment we have not signed any new player but we will do that on Thursday morning, in time for the Caf registration deadline,” said Muwengwa.
Meanwhile, Highlanders chairman Themba Ndlela said it would be inhuman for anyone to cry foul about why Banda was allowed to join the Midlands side.
Highlanders secretary general Andrew Tapela was on Sunday confronted by angry supporters who accused him and other members of the executive of not having the club at heart as players were leaving willy-nilly. The
supporters were particularly incensed by the imminent departure of Banda.
Ndlela said all over the world players nearing their retirement age would always maximise on those last few years to make the most and Bosso supporters should just understand that Banda has done his part at the club as a player and might return in future wearing a different jacket.
“For the record Banda came to us and together with Matawu declared that whatever we owe them should be donated back to the club. Banda himself said the club had done so much for him to be where he is today. He said he leaves the club with a clear mind and happy to have been part of this institution. We owed him and Matawu in the region of $7 000,” said Ndlela.
He said it was not a way of avoiding the debt as the club was still looking forward to having Banda wearing the famous black and white stripe together with the armband but had to put a human face to the whole issue.
“Will it be fair for him to say hatshi badala ngizahlala, when we are giving him $2 and the other club has promised him $20, especially looking at his age?” said Ndlela.
