The president of ZIFA Northern Region Division One Side, Banket United, John Murove, has said his club will escape relegation at the end of the season.
Banket United are currently using Chinhoyi Stadium as its home ground after being banned from using Kuwadzana stadium over crowd trouble.
He said while things were not going in the right direction, right now, the club will survive the chop.
“Right now, obviously, we are fighting relegation. It is something we are focusing on.
We want to avoid relegation.
“The other problem is that we have been banned from playing our home games at Kuwadzana Stadium.
“So, we are using Chinhoyi Stadium,”
Murove said Banket had turned their home ground into a fortress.
“We are finding it difficult because Chinhoyi Stadium is not really our home ground.
“But, we will be hoping for good fortunes.
“We have played three matches here, we have won once and drawn twice which is not that bad.
“Our focus now is to get out of the murky waters of relegation. Next season we will shift our focus to promotion,” said Murove.
He said his club has put in place a mechanism to control crowd trouble which resulted in them being banned from playing at home.
“We have some mechanism which we are going to put in place to control crowd trouble.
“Hooliganism has been an issue over the years.
“Crowd trouble has always been an issue.
“We are going to send strong messages to our rogue supporters to say we don’t need crowd trouble.
“I think the fact that we have been banned from home, and the supporters are traveling from Banket, is a strong signal that violence does not pay.”
He said he was sponsoring the club for the benefit of the community.
“We are doing this for the community. It’s their team so, if it’s taken away from Banket to play in Chinhoyi, it means they don’t benefit from the team,” said Murove.
