Bantu face wounded Buffaloes

WOUNDED Buffaloes, who are still smarting from a 2-1 away defeat at the hands of Chapungu, will engage Bulawayo side Bantu Rovers in a tricky Castle Lager Premiership tie set for Sakubva Stadium on tomorrow (Saturday).
The match starts at 3pm.
Bantu might be second from the basement and results have not been coming their way, especially in the first half of the season, but most neutrals concur that Methembe Ndlovu’s men are not a bad side.

In fact, Bantu have been unlucky to walk away empty-handed in most of their league matches lost after a fine display that somehow lacked the cutting edge.

Bantu will come into tomorrow’s league encounter against Buffaloes after forcing a one-all draw against FC Platinum, while Buffaloes were left to count the losses when ageing defender Shepherd Nkata handled in the box to give Chapungu a late penalty in added time that eventually turned out to be the winning goal.

However, tomorrow’s encounter could be a different ball game altogether with both teams out to bolster their chances to escape relegation.
At second from the bottom end of the table, Bantu are deep in the relegation zone and would obviously want to have their hands on every point within reach.

While the Mutare side is relatively on a safer position on the table, for them to continue dropping points might end up being catastrophic.
Given that four teams will be relegated at the end of the season, simple mathematics shows that Masomere’s team is not all that safe and every point counts.
