MANICA Diamonds goalkeeper Tedious Baye is setting his goals high ahead of a new season in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
On Saturday, Manica Diamonds host Yadah in a league opener at Sakubva.
Baye will be facing competition for the goalkeeper starting position from seasoned Geoffrey Chitsumba and understudy Joseph Kaunda.
He is hoping for a positive start against the Miracle Boys.
“It’s a new season and everyone would be eager to start positively. If you manage to win games earlier it takes away the pressure and that translates into more chances of being successful.
“Over the past two seasons the club have started slowly and we are working hard to change the narrative this time around,” he said.
Baye said they want to win some silverware this season.
“Football is about winning trophies.
“That’s the aim, and I want to play a key role in achieving that goal.
“I believe that with the squad we have, we can do wonders in the coming season.
“My target is to have clean sheets each time I am trusted to play. It’s obvious if you don’t concede as a team you will have a positive result, a draw or win will be definite.
“So, we need to work together as a team and try have a positive result as a unit.”
