AS if providing shelter and food to a grown-up son was not enough, an irate Sakubva father revealed in court that his 35-year-old son was a bed-wetter.
James Nyirenda, who was praying for two orders against his son, Allen Nyirenda, was only granted the protection order and advised to make a new eviction application.
The pair appeared before Mutare magistrate Mrs Yeukai Chigodora last week.
Nyirenda revealed to the court of how his son still wets his bed at the age of 35 and how he also walks around the house naked and urinating whenever he gets drunk.
“I have suffered enough, Your Worship, and I cannot keep on enduring this because he has long reached the legal age of majority and should be out of my house.
“He assaults both his mother and me. He is in the habit of shouting obscenities at us. My younger children have since moved out because of him after he threatened to attack them with an axe.
“Another issue is his wayward behaviour whenever his mother will be serving food. He acts like a mad man, Your Worship, and demands all the food being served. At one time, he grabbed the pot of sadza when his mother was serving and ran away with it,” complained Nyirenda.
He also told the court that Allen’s wife and two children had deserted him because of his wayward behaviour.
In his defence, Allen did not deny the allegations that were being made against him by his father. He blamed his actions on alcohol.
“I will be drunk, but the good part of it is that I always clean up my own mess.
“When I urinate in the house, the next morning I take a mop and clean it up. I also make it a point that I put the soiled blankets on the washing line. I don’t think anyone is being affected by that because I clean up everything,” he tried to justify his uncalled for behaviour.
After being asked why he was still staying with his parents at such an age, Nyirenda told the court that he was unemployed and could not afford to stay alone.
“All the same, I need a month to vacate and I even wonder why my father has never mentioned this to me before. If he had I would have left a long time ago,” he said.
