JUNIOR golf sensation Danielle Bekker will represent the country at this year’s Malaysian Junior World Championships set for December 2 to 5 in Singapore. She won the US Kids Malaysian and European World Junior Golf Championship Qualifying Tournamen, in Bronkhorstpruit, South Africa, last week. Bekker shot an impressive 46 and 39 for a total 85, taking the lead by four strokes on the first day, before she returned with a 44 on the front nine on the second day. But a brilliant personal best of 37 on the back nine was good enough to win the competition. South African champion Senayah Moodlier finished second.

Bekker is a Chapman-based 11-year-old golfer who is under the guidance of veteran coach Cathy Riley. Meanwhile, Chapman Golf Club is ready to host the third edition of Harare Open set to get underway tomorrow.

“The course is in good shape and we are happy that we are hosting the prestigious event for a third consecutive time,” said the club’s golf administration manager Stuart Utah.
