Benji feels Whawha aren’t punching bags

BENJANI MWARUWARI has described lowly Whawha as “very, very dangerous opponents.

The Undertaker takes his Ngezi Platinum Stars to the basement club on Sunday for a Castle Lager Premiership battle.

“In this league, there is no walkover,” said Benjani.

“Even in the world, teams like that are very dangerous.

“If you check their last five games, they have been playing so well, they have just been unfortunate they have been losing games.

“But, they are very, very dangerous.”

Whawha midfielder Callum English-Brown believes they can replicate the fighting spirit they demonstrated when they crushed Chicken Inn 3-0.

The Gweru side have not registered a victory in their past five league fixtures.

Luke Petros’s troops have conceded 34 and netted 14 times in 16 assignments.

English-Brown, who is the only white player in the domestic Premiership, says they believe in their talents.

“We are preparing well, we have been having a good week in training and we are confident and eager to get a positive result,” said English-Brown.

“The morale in camp is high, we are playing good football and we know the results will follow soon enough, we just need to keep working hard.

“We need to play with confidence and the hunger to win against Ngezi, even though we know they pose a bigger threat but we can’t be intimidated and settle for a poor result.”

The enterprising midfielder reiterated they have a fair chance of surviving relegation.

“A positive result will give us some momentum going into the second round of the season, and it will put us in a better position, in terms of the table,” he said.

“I think we are on the right track and the results will come, once they do, we can build some positive energy and, hopefully, put ourselves in a respectable position on the log.

“Honestly, right now, we are not scoring enough goals, it’s something we are working on, we just need a bit more luck in our games, and ruthlessness, in front of goal.”

Madamburo are coming from a goalless draw against Manica Diamonds.

Benjan Mwaruwari’s men have just managed to edge FC Platinum and ZPC Kariba on the road in this campaign.
