Bhasera makes Afcon cut

MUTARE-BORN veteran defender, Onismor Bhasera, has been selected among the players that will represent Zimbabwe at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals set for Cameroon early next month.

Coach, Norman Mapeza picked the final 23 men to do duty for the country as he trimmed the squad from 30.

The Warriors had been in camp for a week now and Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) announced the final list this morning, with both familiar and new faces.

La Sakubva junior product, Bhasera and captain, Knowledge Musona are among the senior players expected to provide both experience and leadership at the finals where Zimbabwe will be making their fifth overall appearance and second on the trot.

The Warriors were expected to depart for Cameroon this afternoon.

They will get the ball rolling on January 10 against Senegal before taking on Guinea and Malawi in their Group B.

Goalkeepers: Petros Mhari, Martin Mapisa, Talbert Shumba

Defenders: Peter Muduhwa, Alec Mudimu, Teenage Hadebe, Jordan Zemura, Godknows Murwira, Gerald Takwara, Gilroy Chimwemwe, Bruce Kangwa, Onismor Bhasera

Midfielders: Kelvin Madzongwe, Thabani Kamusoko, Kudakwashe Mahachi, Ishmael Wadi, Never Tigere, Kundai Benyu

Strikers: Admiral Muskwe, Prince Dube, David Moyo, Knowledge Musona, Tinotenda Kadewere
