THE Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mike Bimha will tomorrow lead a strong field of over 70 players at the ZITF Golf Challenge set for the country’s oldest golf course, the Bulawayo Golf Club.Tomorrow’s field will include local and foreign captains of industry who will take some time off their busy ZITF schedule.

Bekithemba Nkomo, the ZITF company chairman, confirmed the latest development and called for full participation as it provided perfect opportunities for the captains of industry to network.

“The beneficiary of this golf challenge will be Esandleni Sothando,” said Nkomo.

Last year, proceeds from the challenge tourney went to victims of Tsholotsho floods who were left homeless after their property and homes were swept away by the raging floods.

This year’s tournament will use a four ball better ball format.

In the four ball better ball stableford, two players play as partners although the hole is played individually by each of them, using their full handicaps.

At the conclusion of the hole, the player recording the highest number of stableford points has their score entered on the card. If both partners score equally on the hole, the score of the player who first completed the hole is recorded. There is no need to record both scores since only the best score is required. The winner is determined by adding the scores for each nine holes and totalling for 18 holes.

The prize giving ceremony is set for the evening at the same venue.
