Bishop nabbed for rape

EX-COMMUNICATED African Apostolic Church bishop who has been on the run for allegedly raping a church member was finally arrested and appeared in court on Wednesday.Appearing before Mutare magistrate Mr Poterai Gwezhira, Charles Tekeshe (57) of Tekeshe Plot, Fern Valley, who is facing four counts of raping a 22-year-old church member, was not asked to plead.

It is alleged that Tekeshe raped the complainant on the guise of cleansing her of evil spirits.

He was remanded in custody to September 17 for routine remand.

Representing the State, Mr Brian Goto said: “Tekeshe raped the complainant on an unknown date sometime in October 2013.

“He first raped the complainant at Dangamvura turn-off. He raped her again at House Number 802, Area B, Dangamvura. He raped her for the third time at Muradzikwa Primary School in Zimunya before the last rape that occurred at Tekeshe Plot in Fern Valley.”
