BISHOP STEPS INTO CHIVAYO’S CASE

A LOCAL church leader has stepped into the controversy generated by social media claims that businessman Wicknell Chivayo has been having adulterous affairs with a number of women, including two wives of prophets.

Chivayo has described the chats, which were said to have been downloaded from his Instagram account by some hackers, as FAKE.

Bishop Sylvester Kusinira of New United Apostolic Faith Church appears to be singing in Chivayo’s corner.

“We are not defending Wicknell Chivayo but urging the nation to desist from relying on unverified information.

“Everything on earth undergoes a test of time, there shall be a time when everything done in the darkness will be brought to light, no stone shall be left on top of the other stone.

“Let us examine ourselves before judging and know that anyone can be tempted and fall, let the church remain prayerful and relevant,” said Bishop Kusinira.

He added:

“Alleged adultery stories mentioning names of prominent church leaders is meant to attack the church and destroy worshippers’ faith.

“The Bible teaches us not to rush in giving judgments.

“The Holy Bible teaches us that an accusation should not to be taken seriously unless it comes with the evidence of two or three witnesses.

“This, also, harmonises with the need to only pursue accusations where there is sufficient evidence.”

Bishop Kusinira said social media has now been turned into a tool for destruction.

“Social media is being abused daily to assassinate people’s characters, among them are prominent people, politicians as well as religious men and women.

“Directing attacks on church leaders’ spouses is meant to steal, kill and destroy worshipers’ faith in God.

“I want to urge the nation to rely on verified information other than being quick to judge.

“The church has a role to play in people’s lives and the devil has been attacking it through abuse of social media, among other tools.”
