Zimbabwean award winning playwright and Walking Dead star Danai Gurira was last week revealed as a cast member of upcoming Marvel Blockbuster film, Black Panther, as she continues to rack in the big roles in Hollywood movies.
The highly anticipated superhero movie will see the reunification with Oscar winning star Lupita Nyonga��o, who was also unveiled by the showa��s producer Kevin Peige as a cast member during the annual Comic-Con which was held last week in San Diego in the US.
The film has garnered attention because ita��s a variation from the usual white dominated Hollywood superhero movies by placing black characters and black themes as the central premise of the story.
In addition to Chadwick Boseman, who plays the Black Panther himself, and director Ryan Coogler, Feige also welcomed to the stage fast rising actor Michael B. Jordan, who will play Black Panthera��s nemesis Erik Killmonger.
Nyonga��o, takes the role of Nakia with Gurira as Okoye.
Both Nakia and Okoye are of the Wakandan Dora Milaje, the a�?Adored Onesa�? and personal bodyguards of the Black Panther, recruited from every tribe of the fictional Wakanda.
Chosen from rival tribes, their presences maintain a balance of power preventing civil war.
This wona��t be the first time that the two worked together, as their combination gave birth to the Broadway play Eclipsed, which became a multiple Tony award nominated sensation.
Filming for the Black Panther movie is expected to begin at the start of next year.
