HIGHLANDERS have stepped up their bid for a strong finish this season by snapping up lanky Nigerian forward Benjamin Olawarithim, who is expected to bring firepower to the misfiring Bosso frontline.
The 19-year-old, who has been turning heads at Gwanda Pirates in the ZIFA Central Region League, is set to don the famous black and white jersey as Cry Mantengwane look to sharpen their attack.
Details of the contract are still under wraps, but sources in Gwanda confirmed that the deal was sealed this week.
Pirates, who share a fanbase and colours with Highlanders, are said to be keen on maintaining a good relationship with the Bulawayo giants.Bosso acting CEO Kindman Ndlovu played it safe when contacted, saying:
“We’ve been in talks with clubs over players who can add value to the squad. Once all formalities are done, the club will release full details.”
Bosso have been toothless in front of goal for months, and the arrival of the Nigerian teen sensation could be the spark the Soweto giants desperately need.
Will Olawarithim be the man to end Bosso’s goal drought?
