HIGHLANDERS Football Club is teetering on the edge of chaos. The board and executive are expected to hold an emergency meeting Tuesday evening to deal with a storm of internal drama threatening to derail the club.
The crisis talks come after the shock sacking of head coach Kelvin Kaindu, a leaked resignation and retraction by acting CEO Kindman Ndlovu, and growing concerns over confidential information spilling into the public domain.
Kaindu was shown the exit last week and replaced by Try Ncube, despite having just picked up a 1-0 win over Manica Diamonds and a derby draw against Chicken Inn. Many believe the Z$1 million boost from Wicknell Chivayo could have given Kaindu his first real chance to build a competitive squad after two seasons of scraping for free agents and cast-offs.
Kaindu was finally going to get his shot at the market. Instead, he’s gone, said a source close to the club.
The board, like many fans, was reportedly blindsided by the decision.
Meanwhile, acting CEO Kindman Ndlovu’s resignation letter made its way to the public, then so did his U-turn. The club is fuming over how sensitive documents, intended only for the chairman and board chair, ended up splashed across Facebook and X.
Leadership is lacking. The centre is no longer holding. Mhlophe and Mnkandla must steer the ship before it sinks, said the insider.
Also expected on the agenda is how to allocate Chivayo’s donation. Should it be used for player signings, debt clearance or settling bonus arrears?
Another elephant in the boardroom is the case of suspended finance officer Sihlalisiwe Mnkandla, whose court-ordered return earlier this year raised eyebrows, especially as it came just after Nkani Khoza took over as club treasurer.
With Bosso languishing in ninth place on the log, fans are demanding answers and results.
The battle for Bosso’s soul is on. Who’s really in charge?
