Bosso drew with Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium before bravely holding 2010 champions Motor Action at Rufaro Stadium on Saturday. In between the nil-all draws, the team played a friendly match against Hwange at the Colliery and posted a 1-1 draw.
The supporters were now beginning to be worried, especially judging by the way the team has been scoring and from a six-point lead at the top, the gap has been reduced to just three points although Bosso have a game in hand over the second and third-placed FC Platinum and Shabanie Mine.
“To us it’s game on and our supporters should not panic at all, instead they should support us even more because if they panic, what will we do as players,” said the central defender.
He said their failure to score could be attributed to the fact that their opponents always adopt a defensive approach when playing them as they want to reduce the amount of damage.
“We will turn and it’s very soon. I can promise our supporters that those goals will start flowing and when they do, there shall be no turning back,” said Mapuranga.
When the season started the strikeforce was so potent while the defence conceded six goals in four games but have now gone for an impressive five games without conceding with goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda a firm favourite for the goalkeeper of the month award.
Bosso play giant killers Harare City at Barbourfields Stadium this Sunday.
Adam Ndlovu picked up a full set of points with a 2-1 win over Hwange at Luveve Stadium on Saturday to move to third place with 18 points, the same number of points with three other clubs, Caps United, Motor Action and Buffaloes. Tendai Mukambi scored Chicken Inn’s opener while Evans Chikwaikwai finally remembered his core business in the field with an 89th minute strike to hand his side maximum points after skipper Rodwell Chinyengetere had levelled at the hour mark.
For Hwange it was their second loss on the trot after a 4-1 mauling by Shabanie Mine at the Colliery Stadium two weeks ago amid reports that morale at the club’s technical bench was so low as a result of the company’s retrenchment exercise that has seen some members of the technical team being offloaded.
“As a club we still have total faith in our technical team and their players. We are not reading much into our losses although of course we cannot be happy with defeats,” said Hwange secretary Burzil Dube.
He said his executive would meet the technical team today in an effort to hear their contributions about beefing up the team, especially in midfield.
On reports that Chinyengetere could be leaving for Dynamos, Dube said his club was yet to be approached by the Harare side but said the player could only leave the coal miners for a European team.
“They can continue eyeing him but that is that,” said the team secretary.
There was no glorious return to Premiership football for Quelaton coach, Philani “Beefy” Ncube who watched his side record their eighth loss of the season, falling 0-1 to Tavaka “Dread” Gumbo’s Hardbody.
Quelaton, though, played a purposeful match unlike in their previous games and with a bit of luck, they could have bagged the three points.
DeMbare coach Callisto Pasuwa was a relieved man after their hard-fought 2-1 win over a plucky Gunners at Lafarge Stadium.
Knives were out for the Dynamos coach with a section of the supporters calling for his head but a brilliant free-kick by defender Guthrie Zhokinyi deep into the match settled things for Dynamos who lie seventh on the standings with 17 points, seven behind leaders Highlanders.
