Chigubu will travel with his Bulawayo counterpart Ntandoyenkosi Moyo whose stage name is General Ntando.
Chigubu will perform with South Africa-based Carl Joshua Ncube who has just returned to Zimbabwe from Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda as part of the Nite of A Thousand Laughs Franchise.
Other comedians to perform on the night include stand-up comedy legend Michael K, Doc Vikela, Simba the Comic King, Q the Boss, Uncle Sam, and Cde Fatso.
In an interview yesterday, the comical Chigubu was in high spirits about the show.
He said his set would involve what happens in the townships and the differences that are in society.
“I will be representing Bulawayo with General Ntando in Harare and I am very excited. I want to talk about the funny side of township life in Bulawayo and the differences and changes in society,” said Chigubu.
He said he had performed twice this year at Simuka and he was relishing going back on stage on Friday.
“I performed in April and May this year and working with people like Carl Joshua Ncube, Michael K, Doc Vikela and Cde Fatso. It promises to be a night to remember,” said Chigubu.
Turning to his career in comedy, Chigubu said he would be filming a one hour special of his stand-up comedy in October.
“I will be doing a one hour special of my comedy show at the Bulawayo Theatre. The show will be recorded so that it can be circulated,” said Chigubu.
In a statement, Simuka comedy founder, Doc Vikela said people should expect fireworks and rib cracking madness as this would be a celebration of everything funny in Zimbabwe.
“The chilly evening of 29 June will see awards being given in various dubious and unceremonial categories to create the much needed controversy expected in award ceremonies. The show will be full of ups, downs, mainly downs and embarrassing stories and tales told from various perspectives of Zimbabwe’s comedians,” said Doc Vikela.
