HIGHLANDERS are holding their breath as captain Andrew Mbeba faces a race against time to be fit for Thursday’s showdown against Triangle at Barbourfields Stadium.

The Bosso skipper hobbled off the pitch during their clash with Scottland over the weekend, with what appeared to be a nasty ankle injury.

Coach Try Ncube confirmed at the club’s weekly presser on Wednesday that they are still in the dark over the full extent of the damage.

“We are still waiting for a report from the doctor following the scans done and then we will know the full extent of the injury,” said Ncube.

With Bosso gunning for points in the title race, Mbeba’s absence could not have come at a worse time.
“Mbeba will definitely be missed, but we have able replacements. We just hope the guys that will come in will step up because he is our leader,” added the coach.

Highlanders will need a strong showing against a fired-up Triangle side looking to cause an upset at Emagumeni.

Mbeba’s leadership and composure at the back will be sorely missed if the scan delivers bad news.
Will Bosso rise without their general? The battlefield awaits.
