Highlanders are gunning for revenge, and caretaker coach Try Ncube says the plan is in motion. The wounded Bulawayo giants, still licking their wounds after a humiliating first-leg defeat to newcomers MWOS, are out to settle scores this Sunday in what promises to be a fiery Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) showdown.

“Everything is going according to plan,” declared a confident Ncube. “It’s going to be a tricky game because MWOS are a good side. They lost last week, but remember, they beat us in our first match of the season. We’re ready for them. We’ve been working on our midfield combinations and looking to get the goals. We’re at home and we have to rise.”

This weekend marks the start of life after Kaindu for Bosso. Following the shock exit of their Zambian head coach, the club has handed the reins to Ncube, who was Kaindu’s first assistant. Former Warriors striker Agent Sawu, who served as second assistant, will support him in the dugout.

Together, the pair hopes to breathe new life into a Highlanders side that’s been desperately out of sync.
Their opponents, MWOS, were handed their first loss of the campaign last week by defending champions Ngezi Platinum Stars, snapping an impressive 17-match unbeaten run. That result has cranked up the pressure, and now the PSL newcomers are facing the ultimate test of character at Barbourfields, one of the most intimidating venues in local football.

The first-leg 1–0 defeat at the hands of MWOS still stings for Highlanders. Now, in front of their passionate home faithful at Emagumeni, Bosso will be desperate to flip the script.

Meanwhile, the league race is tightening.

Simba Bhora, who climbed to the top of the table after edging Yadah 1–0 last week, have a mammoth task ahead.

They travel to Mandava Stadium to take on former champions FC Platinum in a top-of-the-table clash that could shake the standings.

Chicken Inn are away to Bikita Minerals at Gibbo Stadium, while Ngezi Platinum Stars, buoyed by their win over MWOS, host struggling Kwekwe United at Baobab Stadium.

ZPC Kariba square off against Dynamos at Nyamhunga in what’s been dubbed the battle of the fading giants, while Ascot Stadium will witness TelOne locking horns with Herentals College.

CAPS United face Greenfuel at Rufaro on Sunday, while Triangle play Scottland in a bottom-of-the-log scuffle at Gibbo.

As the second-half of the season kicks off, a total of 253 goals have been scored so far. FC Platinum remain the only unbeaten team after 17 games. However, their last outing against Dynamos was marred by controversy, DeMbare stormed off the pitch protesting a penalty, leaving the match unfinished.

With just one point separating log leaders Simba Bhora (36 points) from second-placed MWOS (35), every match now carries title implications.
