WORLD No. 10 singles bowler Jane Rigby said she is ready for the Zimbabwe inter-provincial tournament which starts this morning at Avondale Bowling Club in Harare.
The four-day tournament has some interesting fixtures of bowls having attracted most of the country’s top bowlers.Matabeleland, Mid-West and Mashonaland are the provinces taking part.
Rigby, who is ranked No. 10 in the World Singles Champions log standings, is a member of Old Miltonians Bowling Club in Bulawayo. She is going to be representing the Bulawayo side at this year’s inter-provincial tournament where she said they have a good chance of doing well.
The Bulawayo-based bowler told The Herald that she is ready and looking forward to the tournament.
Bowlers like Jono Evans and Denis Streak will be part of the Matabeleland bowlers to look out for while the Mashonaland side will have Tom Craven, Mike Eaton, Clive Robertson and Richie Hayden, who all have made very good records in the sport and are highly rated bowlers.
Rigby also believes the Zimbabwe inter-provincial tournament will help them prepare for the Africa States bowls tournament set for next month in Botswana.
Hosts Mashonaland women side’s skipper Kerry Craven said they are confident of winning the topurnament as they they have a strong squad.
“We believe we have a strong side, a very competitive tournament we are expecting but we are going to give our best shot,” said Craven.
