TRAGEDY struck in Muvangirwa Village under Chief Marange where a youthful man took his own life after being eloped by his pregnant girlfriend.

Godknows Madyambudzi (20) committed suicide just two days after Providence Borida Gombe (20) eloped with him on March 25.

Gombe allegedly went to Mudyambudzi’s homestead claiming that she was four months pregnant. Godknows did not deny the allegations.

His father, Tawanda Madyambudzi (44), offered him words of wisdom, urging him to step up and take care of his responsibilities.

As part of his support, he gave the young couple a room to call their own and even agreed to help out with some of their expenses.

On March 28, Godknows left his home around 11am to graze the cattle. However, when he failed to return by 5pm, his stepmother, Rosemary Dhliwayo, began to worry and was advised that he had gone to a nearby mountain to graze the cattle.

Tragically, when Dhliwayo went searching for Godknows, she found him hanging from a tree with a wire around his neck.

A police report was filed at Odzi Police Station, and authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the matter.
