BPA gets new executive

UNHERADLED Tongai Mukahiwa was last Saturday voted the new Bulawayo Pool Association chairman in an elective Annual General Meeting held at Raylton Recreation Club.

Mukahiwa takes over from Tendai Charuka and will be deputised by former BPA publicity secretary Donald Wadawu.

Wadawu was elected unopposed and the former BPA vice-chairman is Tawinei Nhachi.

a�?We are looking forward to have a united executive that will work for the benefit of BPA and pool in general. We need to cultivate a culture of professionalism in all our clubs,a�? said Mukahiwa.

Bekezela Nkala, who turns out for Dragons Pool Club,A� was elected the associationa��s treasurer. He takes over from Kayle Chirwa.A� Kuda Shoko is now the BPA Division One League fixtures secretary. The associationa��s new committee members are Johnson Mawushe, Admire Mahlunge and Mgcini Sibanda.

Former executive members that includeA� Christine Singwe who was the acting chairlady, Mandlenkosi Makohwa acting secretary general recently stepped down citing different reasons.

They were joined by Robin Goremucheche and Philani Mlotshwa who held the positions of fixtures secretary and committee member respectively.

Meanwhile, Palace Gardens will on Saturday playhost to an open singles poolA� tournament.

Registration which was expected to open on Thursday will close on Saturday at 11.30am. One of the tournamenta��s organisers Osborne Dziko, whose family runs Palace Gardens, said games are expected to start at 12pm.

a�?This is a tournament that will see young pool players play against seasoned players. We are expecting to experience good matches in a tournament that is also meant to celebrate our young brothera��s (Darlington) 23rd birthday. Ita��s a tournament that is open to every pool player in Bulawayo. The first prize will be $100. The second and third best players will go home with $50 and $30 respectively,a�? said Dziko.
