RESIDENTS at Ross Camp police station in Bulawayo had to break a fight to rescue one man who was beaten up by a woman after touching her buttocks and breasts without consent.

Sarah Tarwira (23) had gone to Ross Camp with her friend to sell dried fish and bumped into Phanuel Chiremba (32) who playfully took a bucket lid that had been used by the complainant to cover the bucket in which she had put the fish and hid it in his car.

Not knowing it was Chirembaas plan to get her to bend, Tarwira went to the car to take the lid and when she tried to reach for the lid, Chiremba approached from behind and grabbed her buttocks and breasts.

The lady is said to have got angry and started hitting Chiremba who attempted to hit back but was overpowered and rescued by Ross Camp residents.

Tarwira immediately reported the incident and Chiremba has since appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya on charges of indecent assault.

In his defence Chiremba told the court that he was only playing with the complainant and did not think she would be offended.

a?Your worship, I was only playing with her. I didnat think she would get angry and attack me. It was just a prank and I didnat mean to offend her,a? he said.

Chiremba was remanded in custody to a later date.
