Thieves broke into the Chinhoyi Municipality director of finance’s office and blew up a safe in the strong room in the early hours of this morning.

The ZRP Criminal Investigations Department is currently checking if the thieves stole anything.

Acting town clerk, Engineer Simon Marara confirmed the break-in, adding that details of what transpired are still sketchy.

“We had a break-in early this morning and so far, we have gathered that the break-in targeted the director of finance’s office. They blew up a safe in the strong room,” said Engineer Marara.

“At the moment we have no further details since investigations are still underway.”

The offices were closed up to around 10am as police detectives were said to be looking for evidence.
