President Mugabe has appointed Mr Prince Machaya to the post of Attorney General. In a statement, the Secretary for Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Mrs Virginia Mabhiza said Mr Machaya was appointed in terms of section 114 (1) of the Constitution adding that he is expected to soon take the oaths of loyalty and office in terms of the law.

Mrs Mabhiza said Mr Machaya’s appointment will see the expeditious alignment of legislation to the Constitution as this is one of the core functions of the Attorney General.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Machaya was Deputy Attorney General since December 27, 2007.
