Meluleki “Brema” Moyo, leader and bassist of Insimbi ZeZhwane, has confidently stated that the band will hit the mark with their upcoming 10th album – the first full-length release since the tragic passing of lead vocalist Elvis “Ma Eli” Mathe last year.

The seven-track album is scheduled for launch on November 2 at the Hillbrow Theatre in South Africa, with a follow-up event in Bulawayo a week later. The South African album launch will feature performances by Dubia Masters, Zinjaziyamluma, Gobisani, Makhuza Giants and Mdu SaMavitsha.

On Saturday, the band shared the track list for the upcoming album, but the title track was deliberately kept secret to build suspense among fans. The six unveiled tracks are Imbeleko, Ingqinamba, Umfukula, Morning Glory, Umathambula and Mileage.

“In many ways, this is a new beginning for us. We want to reassure our fans that we’re still in the game and have much more to offer. The music is very powerful, especially as this is our first album since the deaths of our brothers, Ma Eli and Maviri,” Brema explained.

He praised vocalists, Frank “High Tower” Masuku and Luke Ergan Mathe for their contributions to the album, noting significant improvement in their performances.

To ensure the album reaches fans worldwide, Brema revealed that it will be available on digital platforms.

“Music stores are the way forward, allowing fans outside Johannesburg to access the album digitally. We’ll also host another launch on November 8 at the Palace Hotel in Bulawayo, followed by a show in Filabusi at Kalani on November 9. After that, we’ll head to Victoria Falls and Botswana, with those dates to be announced.”

The band’s previous albums include Iseqamgwaqo, Inhlanz’encane, Sizalendaba, Dikidiki, Impande Yeminyela, Imbemba, Iginyambila, Umshosha Phansi and the LP, Inhlansi.

Though Ma Eli’s death left many questioning the band’s future, Brema is determined to keep the unique Insimbi ZeZhwane sound alive, assuring fans that they will continue to deliver their signature beats and meaningful messages.

This imminent release comes after fellow musicians like TK of Dubia Masters and Mxolisi “Mr Bones” dropped albums that have been well-received thus far. — @themkhust
