MUSIC producer and recording artist Bryan K, real name Bryan Kadengu, has teamed up with students from Hillview Christian College for a stirring new rendition of the cherished gospel song ‘‘Vane Hanya (Jesu Wedu)’’, in a collaboration that blends nostalgia, faith and youthful creativity.

The newly-released version, which is already available across digital platforms, reimagines a song that has long resonated with generations of Zimbabweans who grew up singing it in church and school settings.

Featuring Bryan K’s emotive lead vocals alongside the rich harmonies of the students, the track carries a message of comfort, reassurance and unwavering faith, while introducing the timeless classic to a younger audience.

Speaking on the project, Bryan K said the song holds deep personal and collective significance. “This is a song many of us grew up singing, so it carries a lot of meaning,” he said. Bringing it into this space, with young voices, felt like giving it new life — like passing something timeless from one generation to the next.”

The collaboration also shines a spotlight on the growing importance of creative expression among young people, with Bryan K emphasising the role of music and the arts in shaping identity and confidence.

“I have always believed that students should be encouraged to express themselves creatively,” he said.

“We are living in a time where all skill sets matter, but creativity is becoming one of the most important.

“It builds confidence, it shapes identity, and it allows young people to find their voice.” The accompanying music video, shot at Hillview Christian College’s picturesque campus in Domboshava, adds emotional depth to the release.

Scenes of students interacting on campus, singing together and sharing moments of joy and unity create a warm and authentic visual narrative.

Additional footage captured on a nearby mountain lends the production a striking cinematic touch, symbolising elevation and the uplifting spiritual message carried in the song.

For many listeners, the revival of ‘Vane Hanya (Jesu Wedu)’ is likely to evoke fond memories, while the inclusion of student voices introduces a fresh, contemporary dimension to the beloved hymn.

Bryan K said the project is only the beginning of what he hopes will become a wider platform for nurturing young talent.

“This project is just the beginning. It is the first of many I hope to build with students — creating spaces where they can be seen, heard and inspired,” he said.

The collaboration marks a meaningful intersection of music, storytelling and education, creating a powerful entertainment offering that is expected to resonate well beyond the classroom and into homes across the country.

With its strong message of hope and intergenerational connection, the release is poised to strike a chord with both older audiences familiar with the song and younger listeners discovering it for the first time.
