VILLAGERS in Buhera South constituency have hailed their Member of National Assembly, Cde Joseph Chinotimba, for his selflessness, hard work and dedication to duty, traits that have significantly improved the state of affairs in the area.
Situated 170km south-west of Mutare, Buhera South, which is arid, was in recent years plagued by hunger as well as menacing hyenas attacking people and animals.
The coming in of Cde Chinotimba as the legislator for Buhera South has seen things taking a new direction and results on the ground are there for everyone to see.
Villagers interviewed by The Manica Post last weekend said Cde Chinotimba was a leader with his constituency at heart. They all agreed that he was development oriented.
Even his counterparts in the august House have hailed his efforts of developing the area.
Addressing villagers at Mutiusinazita Village last Saturday, Deputy Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Cde Monica Mutsvangwa described Cde Chinotimba as an astute representative of the people who puts work first.
“People of Buhera South, you have a great leader. VaChinotimba is a selfless and hardworking man whose passion for progress is so clear to see. He is a dedicated man and I am proud to be here today because he is a man who wants to see things done in the right way,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
A villager, Tendai Manjokota, said Cde Chinotimba was always in touch with the grassroots.
“We see him here often. He comes and asks us if we are having any problems here. Previous MPs dismally failed to do this. We will not miss them.
“We are happy that our roads are now better. At least buses to Mutare and other places can now directly pick us from the main road,” said an ecstatic Manjokota.
Cde Chinotimba, in some of his major projects, sourced funding and resources for the rehabilitation of the Birchenough-Murambinda road. He also sourced funds for the refurbishment of clinics, hospitals and schools in the constituency.
Other villagers, however, bemoaned the lack of electricity in some schools.
“We are very grateful for what Cde Chinotimba has done to us. Our children no longer walk long distances to nearest schools. However, we need electricity. We also need our children to do computers just like others.
“The availability of electricity will enable the computerisation of schools in the constituency,” said Mrs Chirombo.
“We have a leader who was God sent. He initiated some income-generating projects that have transformed the lives of most of us. These include poultry keeping. We can now fend for ourselves and send our children to school.
“Cde Chinotimba always encourages us to use our hands and be innovative,” said a villager who refused to be named.
One of the villagers referred to an incident that happened last year where some villagers were attacked by hyenas.
