BUJU BITE BOSSO!, Simba Bhora lead Highlanders 2-1 at halftime

SIMBA Bhora are roaring louder than ever at Barbourfields Stadium after taking a 2-1 lead against Highlanders at the halftime break in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League sizzler.

The defending champions, known as the Go Buju Go boys, silenced the home crowd early when Isakar Guribab curled home a beauty from outside the box in the 13th minute. The striker was set up by a slick Junior Makunike pass that split the Bosso defence wide open.

Bosso, desperate to bounce back from recent poor form, responded in the 22nd minute. Melikhaya Ncube rose highest to nod home a Prince Ndlovu corner and send the Soweto End into a frenzy.

But the joy was short-lived.

Seven minutes later, disaster struck for the home side when Emmanuel Ziocha pounced on a defensive blunder to restore Simba Bhora’s lead.

The champions bossed possession for most of the half, leaving Highlanders chasing shadows. Bosso fans were also left fuming after referee Kwanele Manenda waved away a penalty shout in the early stages.

Never Rauzhi tested Simba Bhora goalkeeper William Thole with a stinging long-range drive in the 12th minute, but the alert keeper palmed it away for a corner.

There was a scare in the stands after a Highlanders supporter at the Soweto End tumbled from the top terrace and had to be stretchered off with a bandaged head. The fan’s identity remains unknown, but the incident briefly halted the match.

With tempers flaring, tackles flying and goals flowing, the second half promises fireworks. Will Bosso claw back or will Buju finish the job? Stay tuned.
