Bulawayo-based author Tinotenda Antony Rukanzakanza is set to launch his new book titled The Promised Land — Africa into Canaan, on March 7 at the Bulawayo Music Academy at a night which promises to be a celebration of literature, culture, and excellence.

According to Rukanzakanza, the book aims to inspire people to believe in themselves, break free from limiting mindsets, utilise their unique abilities to create a well-developed, impactful, and functional environment.

“We have been stuck in a mentality that makes us think we are second-class citizens. But this book shows how a transformed mentality can help us become independent, thrive, and make a meaningful impact,” said Rukanzakanza.

Apart from the book launch, the event will also be utilised as an intimate awards ceremony whose name was given after Rukanzakanza’s new book.

The Promised Land — Canaan into Africa awards are a testament to the author’s commitment to promoting excellence and recognising the contributions of individuals and organisations that are making a positive impact in different communities.

Gospel music giant Minister Mahendere will be the guest of honour at the event. His presence is expected to inspire and motivate the audience to strive for greatness.

On coming up with these awards, Rukanzakanza said Bulawayo holds a special place in his heart, and there is a need to honour people from the city who are doing well in different industries.

“Bulawayo stands for me as a beacon of light for transformative leadership. The city has a rich history of producing leaders who have made a significant impact in Zimbabwe and beyond.

“I believe that this city has the potential to inspire a new generation of leaders who will take Africa to the next level. This is the reason why we came up with these awards, to honour excellence and allow young people to be inspired to go and be associated with these awards,” he said.

After launching the awards in Bulawayo, Rukanzakanza said they will hold some awards in Harare, Victoria Falls, before embarking on an international tour that will take them to Ghana, India, and the UK.
