AFTER two months on the sidelines Zifa Southern Region club Bulawayo Chiefs – who were involved in a road accident in March – are back in action with a fixture against ZRP Hwange at White City Stadium on Saturday.
The Bulawayo Chiefs team bus was involved in an accident 80 kilometres from Hwange on the Victoria Falls road injuring 15 players and members of the technical team.
The team is, however, going into the fixture without six players that have not been given the green light to play by the medical stuff. The six players are training under the supervision of the team physiotherapist.
Goalkeeper Calvin Nyoni, defender Sikhumbulani Dube and striker Qinani Sibanda are still on the sidelines.
Midfielders Mengezi Dube and Tatenda Chigwede together with attacking midfielder Thabani Moyo are not available for the Saturday match until the team doctors are satisfied the players are one hundred percent fit to play.
Bulawayo Chiefs chairman Lovemore Sibanda said the decision to resume league action with a depleted squad was too avoid lagging behind in the league program with too many matches.
a?We are already five matches behind and we decided to start playing catch up even with six players missing.
It was a difficult decision but we felt we had no other choice but to use the available players and get on with the business.
This is the time for the team to prove we can come out stronger in the face of adversity,a? said Sibanda.
In other matches, league pacesetters Amagagasi travel to Technosphere in Hwange hoping to continue with their nine match winning streak while Talen Vision host title favourites Bantu Rovers at Raylton Sports Club in Bulawayo on Saturday.
