FORMER Railstars defender Zimiseleni Moyo is on cloud nine after helping his Zambian side Zesco United lift their fourth MTN/FAZ Super League title over the weekend.The Bulawayo-born defender, probably the only Zimbabwean plying his trade in Zambia, will now be looking forward to a dance in the Caf Champions League next season.
“All glory to the Almighty God this feeling of being 2014 Zambian Super League champions is so awesome,” said Moyo on his Facebook post.
Zesco United defeated and condemned Kabwe Warriors to the FAZ Division One South League with a 3-1 victory at Trade Fair ground through a first half brace by Winston Kalengo and a stoppage time goal by Simon Silwimba.
The victory by the Ndola-based outfit meant that they won the league with 59 points.
On their way to winning the league Zesco United recorded 17 wins, eight draws and five losses scoring 44 goals and conceding 25 in the process.
In Europe, it was a winning weekend for former Highlanders and AmaZulu players Vusa Nyoni and Costa Nhamoinesu at their Belgian and Czech Republic clubs respectively.
However, Quincy Antipas, Silas Songani and Marvellous Nakamba’s weekends were not so memorable after their teams crushed to league defeats.
Nyoni’s Mons were 1-0 winners over Antwerp although the left footed player was not part of the squad.
Czech Republic champions, Sparta Praha are still on course to retain their league title after they crushed visiting Geske 4-0 in the process taking their points tally to 34, a point behind the leaders.
Former Harare City winger Songani was an 84th minute introduction for Morten Beck as his side Sonderjyske fell 0-1 on the road to Brondby.
Still in Denmark, Antipas, son of Chicken Inn coach Joey, was part of the starting Holbro line up that lost 2-0 to Ezberg.
Nakamba was an unused substitute for Vitesse in the Netherlands as they fell 0-1 to AZ.
