THE Bulawayo Flying Eagles Cycling Express Club will play host to a 70km cycling express ride along the Bulawayo-Nkayi road on Sunday.
Chrispen Kazingizi, a member of the organising committee, said that the event will constitute two main rides which are the 70km elite ride for the professional riders and the 40km social intermediate ride which is open to the public.

He said both rides will start at the lay-by just after the Umguza Bridge along Nkayi Road (Airport road) at 7AM.
The ride will be used as part of preparations for the annual 94.7 race in South Africa in which riders will be expected to earn valuable points to get better placing in international races while for some it will be a social ride just for exercising and having fun.

“We are expecting some riders from Harare like Nkulumo Dube and Lawrence Khumalo, Knowledge Khuphe who participated in the Masvingo ride. I can confidently say that it will be a competitive ride,” he said.

He urged racing enthusiasts to come in numbers as the race will give them an opportunity to practise for the upcoming three-day Tour de Bulawayo from October 24 to 26.

“Club riders should come in numbers as they can use this as an advantage to prepare for the upcoming Tour de Bulawayo in the city from October 24 to 26,” he said.
