THE recent Cabinet reshuffle by President Mugabe has added grit and vigour to the Cabinet as it continues to navigate its way in implementing the economic blueprint, Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim-Asset), the country’s panacea to the myriad economic and social challenges.

Zim-Asset embraces all the socio-economic facets that need to be addressed within the broad spectrum of economic revival and consolidation.

The reshuffle assumed two key dimensions, that of reassigning ministers and that of appointing of new ones.

The new brooms that are expected to sweep clean are Cde Nyasha Chikwinya, the Mutare South legislator who was appointed the new Minister of Women, Gender and Community Development, a portfolio which had remained vacant since December 2014 when the then Minister, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri was deployed to the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development and now Minister of Environment, Water and Climate logy Development and the current legislator for Marondera West, Brigadier-General (Rtd) Ambrose Mutinhiri who was appointed the new Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs.

Given Cde Chikwinya’s vast experience in business and her advocacy in the gender field, women of Zimbabwe should ululate that one of their kind has been favoured to foster and engender their wishes and expectations.

Having seen the tremendous change that the Minister initiated in the livelihoods of women and children in her constituency of Mutare South, the ministry that she been deployed to superintend over will turn a new leaf as it adds value to the Zim-Asset crusade.

With Cde Mutinhiri, his vast experience as a military expert and the discipline engendered by the army will definitely inject a new impetus in the way business is conducted in Mashonaland East.

The reassignments by His Excellency will enable the deployed ministers to reinvigorate and revitalise their new ministries.

A case in point is Professor Jonathan Moyo, whose appointment to the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development will reconfigure and add vitality to the education sector, given his vast experience in the academia. Prof Moyo has a refreshing touch and zest, which has the potential to revolutionise the entire tertiary education system to meet the current national demands.

As much as theory orientated graduates are important for national development, it is crucial at this point in Zimbabwe’s developmental trajectory to begin to churn out practically endowed graduates whose inclination is on job creation rather employment suitors. This is one task which Prof Moyo has the capacity to introduce, hence transforming the status quo to suit the needs of the country.

In Cde Saviour Kasukuwere, the nation has a bundle of energy possessing enough zeal to transform the rural and urban landscape of Zimbabwe. The nation will recall the vigour with which he pioneered the indigenisation crusade to the current point of sustained irreversibility which has seen the nation being totally independent.

If there is a unique aspect that distinguishes Zimbabwe from the rest of her peers in Africa, it is the ownership of her God-given resources by its people.

This was achieved through the solidity and unyielding attitude of people such as Cde Kasukuwere, who stood their ground in implementing that noble process.

It is certain that Local Government affairs will never be same with Cde Kasukuwere at the helm.

He will continue with the sterling job which his predecessor, Dr Ignatius Chombo was doing in that ministry.

The deployment of Dr Chombo to the Home Affairs Ministry and Cde Kembo Mohadi to State Security will consolidate the stability that already obtains in those ministries for the two experienced cadres are veterans in administration and politics.

The combined talents of new ministers and those already serving will result in a formidable team, which will implement the Zim-Asset economic blueprint with zeal.

This noble policy is steps in the right direction, given that national resources will benefit indigenous people, hence improve their lives.

The new appointments and reassignments serve as a reminder to all public office bearers that their continued stay in those positions is only guaranteed if they perform to the expected standards.

It is therefore important for each and every individual to take stock in their respective roles with a view to enhancing economic and social growth of the nation.

When everyone is united behind a certain objective, it will certainly come to fruition.

In the context of our beloved Zimbabwe, adding to the unity that exists is the tranquillity which is pervasive. Zimbabwe is one exceptionally peaceful country where the rule of law is observed and adhered to by all arms of state and the populace.

Even the country’s detractors, led by the former hostile colonizer, Britain, are fully aware of the existence of unassailable stability, which is why they cannot countenance resistance to their ungodly philosophies such as the homosexual inclinations.

The Cabinet reshuffle will certainly inject urgency and momentum, which are critical components in the speedy implementation of governmental projects.

The move by President Mugabe to make the Cabinet adjustments is a testimony of a people’s leadership that regularly appraises its programs and projects, hence making the necessary adjustments where it finds fit.

This is indeed a people-centred leadership which the revolutionary party, Zanu-PF has always provided since 1980 and the main reason the populace has overwhelmingly voted for it since the attainment of autonomy from the yoke of colonialism.
