CAPS United search for Mutare talent

CHAMPIONS CAPS United have targeted Eastern Region Division One side Buffaloes defender Vincent Makaha by inviting him for trials.

Buffaloes chairman Tendai Chitowa confirmed the Green Machine were interested in acquiring the services of the Watungwa Watungwa defender.

“Yes, the CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe expressed interest in having Vincent Makaha,’’ said Chitowa.

“The player even travelled to Harare for a meeting and I understand he could be joining them anytime for trials and thereafter we can start negotiations with the club.

“As of now, there is really nothing that has been agreed by the two parties.’’

The Dangamvura-based Makaha started his career as a striker before he was switched to play a defensive role by Saul Chaminuka during his days as Buffaloes’ coach. CAPS United are set to lose some key players after impressing in the CAF Champions League this year.

They have already lost Dennis Dauda in controversial fashion to rivals Yadah Stars, while Abbas Amidu has moved to Egypt. Ronald Pfumbidzai is in South Africa where he is wanted by Bloemfontein Celtic.

Amidu rejected a deal with five-time African champions Zamalek, opting for Smouha because he wants a team where he is guaranteed game time.
