CAPS United will unveil a game-changing sponsorship deal with an Eswatini bank, which is establishing its footprints in Zimbabwe, on Friday.

The announcement of the sponsorship deal will be a big boost for the Green Machine ahead of their Harare Derby showdown against Dynamos at Rufaro on Sunday.

As part of the sponsorship deal, CAPS United will also receive two state-of-the-art buses, better than the one which was donated by their former striker Nyasha Mushekwi.

For years, the Green Machine have found themselves battling financial challenges.

On Friday, the club will unveil a three-year sponsorship deal, which comes into effect at the start of next year.

Makepekepe are currently 13th on the log with 32 points with only six games before the season comes to a close.

The Harare Derby showdown against a revitalised Dynamos side, who are fighting to move off the relegation zone, will be a huge test of character for Ian Bakala’s erratic boys.

CAPS United have been blowing hot and cold this season and they have to put together some decent performances to drag themselves over the line in the last half-a-dozen games this term.

But they will need no further motivation than an adventure in the Eastern Highlands and a massive financial injection coming just two days before their clash against the Glamour Boys.

CAPS United CEO, Morton Dodzo, yesterday said the Manicaland camp wasn’t meant to prepare the boys for the Harare Derby.

“I wouldn’t really say the Manicaland retreat was for the Harare Derby.

It’s just a coincidence that it fell around the same dates in the build-up to the Harare Derby.

“As CAPS United, we organised this camp a long time ago.

We realised that there were stops due to international breaks and other competitions in the league that we have here and they have been affecting the team’s rhythm.

“In order to keep the boys’ focus and maintain their cohesion and unity, we decided that we would plan a camp in Mutare for the boys.

“We are not safe from relegation and the run-in had to be prepared for. So, this is the reason why we decided to put together this camp.”

With Makepekepe players staying together for the entire week, in the run-up to the showdown against DeMbare, they are expected to become the first team to beat Dynamos since the start of last month across all competitions.

“Logistically this is one of the games that drains you and that is the reason why we have decided to write to the PSL to seek a slight hike in entry fees.

“We believe with what is also at stake, the game will be very big and tough. We have done everything to ensure that the environment will be enjoyable and safe.”

CAPS United have proposed that the cheapest ticket should go for US$5.

  1. Is this an “April Fools Day” hoax? The date is September 24. The only bank that is a true Eswatini bank is Swazi (Eswatini) Bank and is so small it cannot even run an advertising agency outside of Eswatini. The other banks in Eswatini are foreign, Nedbank, Standard Bank(Stanbic) and FNB that are all South Africa banks. It will be very interesting to see which bank is being talked about here.
