TWO suspected cattle rustlers from Mwanyisa Village in Chipinge, were arrested yesterday for  illegally driving three beasts from Mozambique into Zimbabwe.
The duo – Mike Chitore (34) and Last Rakerayi (24) – allegedly used an undesignated crossing point.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the arrest.
He said the police received a tip-off about the two suspects’ illegal activities, and mounted an ambush along the suspected route – south of the Mabeye base.
“At around 4pm, the suspects were intercepted by the police. They were interrogated and failed to provide a credible explanation for the three beats in their possession,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
The suspects were taken to Mabeye base, and the cattle – valued at US$1 200 were recovered.
