Cde Mushore’s life history

National hero, Cde Luke Mushore (76), who died on June 13 and will be buried at the National Heroes Acre on Monday, was a former Zanu PF chairman for Mashonaland Central province and former MP for Muzarabani South.

He was affectionately known by his liberation war name, Dick Joboringo.

President Mnangagwa will preside over his burial proceedings at the National Heroes Acre.

His death has left a void in the hearts of many, with officials expressing deep sorrow over the loss of the veteran of the liberation struggle.

Cde Mushore was among the early freedom fighters, having joined the liberation struggle in 1972 and was revered for his steadfast commitment both during and after the war.

He made immense contribution to Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle and post-independence development, playing an active role in land reform and empowering local communities.

After independence, Cde Mushore established a thriving farm in Centenary, which became centre of excellence for its outstanding agricultural productivity.

Mourners are gathered at Cde Mushore’s farm in Muzarabani.
