Census results out August

Bulawayo Bureau

PRELIMINARY findings of the 2022 Population and Housing Census will be released on August 1, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) has confirmed.

The census took place between April 21 and April 30 before a five-day mop-up exercise was conducted to account for those who may have initially been left uncounted.

ZimStat public relations and communications manager Ms Mercy Chidemo said the findings will be released progressively in a series of eight reports until November.

“There will be a series of census reports starting with the release of preliminary results on August 1, 2022,” she said.

“This will cover the demographic module.

“The report will cover population size disaggregated by sex at national, provincial, district and ward levels.

“It will also include annual average population growth rate, average size of households and population density, among other indicators.”

ZimStat, she said, will be conducting the Post-Enumeration Survey (PES) from July 20 to July 26 to evaluate the coverage, completeness and quality of the 2022 census.

“The PES will cover 130 Enumeration Areas (EAs) across the country.

“ZimStat is once again appealing for cooperation from residents in the selected EAs to ensure that the PES is a success.”
