MUTARE Poly will next month play host to an open chess tournament that will see professional and amateur chess players from across the country vying for top honours.
The winner of the tournament which will be held on November 29 and 30 will walk away with $150.
In an interview, the chess open organising secretary, Tinashe Tawodzera, said anyone who wishes to take part in the tournament should pay affiliation fees of $10 on or before November 20.

“All chess players who want to be part of this potentially intriguing chess-open should pay up affiliation fees in time to avoid embarrassment. Chess players of all age groups and across Zimbabwe are welcome.

“We held a similar tournament in Chipinge in September and it was very successful. We are looking forward to hosting a bigger, better and exhilarating tourney,” Tawodzera said. He said those willing to be part of the event should contact him or the director of the tournament, Russel Nyamayaro, on 0772 616 929 or 0773 843 560.
