OVER 120 professional and amateur chess players from across the country are next Saturday expected to battle it out for top post when they converge at Mutare Poly for a two-day open chess tournament. The winner of the tournament will walk away with $150. “We have been receiving several phone calls from people across the country who are willing to be part of the tourney. Quite a number have paid the $10 affiliation fee. The door is still open for anyone who wants to be part of the event. Chess players of all age groups and across Zimbabwe are welcome.
“We are looking forward to hosting a very successful, bigger and better tournament after the one we held in Chipinge in September,” said Russel Nyamayaro, who is the director of the tournament.
