Chets launches Z’shubile

The launch took place during the weekly Big on Friday slot at the pub, hosted by seasoned Bulawayo DJ, Joe the OG.

 

The slot will, in the coming months, play host to performances from other artistes who, like Chets, will use the platform to publicise and promote their projects.

Chets performed some of her songs from the upcoming album which grabbed the attention of the crowd, particularly the track Impilo Yami, which documents the hardships that the performer faced while growing up in the ghetto.

Chets’ performance on the night was infused with emotion, a perfect illustration of the music on the album which takes one through an emotional roller coaster as the young artiste seeks to tell the story of her life through her lyrics.

The launch on Friday lived up to Chets’ pre-show promise of providing an electrifying performance as she wowed the pub’s revellers with her voice and sizzling dance moves which did justice to the tracks that she performed.

One reveller who spoke to Chronicle Entertainment on the sidelines of the event, said Chets’ music was a breath of fresh air as it was good to see young local artistes doing such music with substance as it was not only entertaining but educating too.

“It is good to see our young musicians doing good for themselves and the one thing I liked about her performance was the positivity that comes through from the music,” he said.

Another reveller who also preferred not to be named said Chets’ music was destined for success because of the honesty that comes through in her songs as evidenced by her performance through the night.

“I think due to the fact that her music is soul-bearing and has the potential to touch people she is destined to achieve some measure of success in our local music industry,” he said.

Her performance on Friday was a prelude to her nationwide tour which she is set to embark on promoting her album, while she has performances lined up in South Africa and Windhoek, Namibia, in the month of October.

The event was attended by artistes like 3 kings of the Seqa Mabhilidi fame, Mac, Planeeters and DJ Thembz of power fm who came to lend their support to the young artiste.
