Chevrons in final warm-up game

Sports Reporter

THE Chevrons will play their final warm-up match today ahead of the start of the ICC Men T20 World Cup qualifier at Harare Sports Club on Friday.

Zimbabwe powered to a nine-wicket win over Kenya in their first warm-up game at the same venue on Monday.

Now, they will take on Nigeria in their final warm-up game today.

It will be the second game at Harare Sports Club today with Kenya and Tanzania playing in the first match.

In other matches at Takashinga, Namibia will take on Botswana while Malawi have a date against Uganda.

This means that all the eight participating teams will have played two warm-up games ahead of the start of the tournament.

If the qualifiers go according to plan, Zimbabwe and Namibia should book their places at the 2026 T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka next year.

The two countries played in a three-match series which ended in favour of the hosts who won 2-1.

All the matches were played in Bulawayo.

The Chevrons know that nothing can be taken for guaranteed, especially after they failed to qualify for the 2024 T20 World Cup in Namibia.

Zimbabwe lost to the hosts and Uganda.
